Entertainers that are Christians are not Music ministers. Gospel music is not a (genre of) music made by a Christian.
The church must discern between believers who are doing music as ministry and those who sing because it is good. A song can be good, even with lyrics that can be found in scripture, it doesn’t make it gospel.
If it is done with the intent and content of equipping the saints and/or to bring unbelievers to the fold, then it is gospel.
The other part is just as a preacher can make comments on public issues and will not count as preaching the gospel, a minister musician can make music that is not gospel. This is actually where major issue lies.
It is much more easier to separate what is good from what is bad but difficult to separate what is good from what is God. Much more difficult if the good is coming from a channel that carries God. And this is where discernment comes in.
We are not without help, we have a tool that can separate soul from spirit, even joint and marrow. The Word.
This ends with a call to return to the Word. We are in a world becoming grey, boundaries blurred. Survival is only by the Word, then we live by the Word.
